Please contact Dave H if you are interested in filling one of the open events. It would be unfortunate to have to cancel an event, because there are not enough adults to supervise. When not enough leaders and/or parents are present, the events do not go as smoothly. Committee Chairpersons reported as follows: 1.Committee Chair/Troop Treasurer: a.Treasurer's Report: Bob F. reported the Troop finances were in order. b. Dues: $80.00 per Scout if paid on or before October 31, 2007 $100.00 per Scout if paid after October 31, 2007 2.Boy Scout Leader Training: Don K, Adult Leader Coordinator, reported New Leader Essential Training, Leader Specifics Training, Outdoor Awareness Training, etc., are coming up. Please contact Don if you haven't completed any of these leadership training courses and will be attending any outings. Some dates are posted on the calendar above. Youth Protection can be taken over the Internet. ALL Scout parents should take this on-line course. Merit Badge Counselor training occurs the second Tuesday of every month at the Palo Alto Scout Facility. Some leadership training courses, including CPR, will also be available at the Merit Badge Midway at Ralston Middle School on February 2, 2008. 3.Upcoming Scout Events - Calendar Change: Rob Hill is not available. Dave H. will present several options to PLC for their selection of an alternate event. 4.Eagle Report: John C., Eagle Scout Coordinator, reported as follows: a.6 Eagle Scouts so far this year. 2 others working on approved projects. 3 others beginning on paperwork towards approval. San Carlos Proclamation to be held in October - date TBD. 5.Troop Rules/Guidelines: Dave H. sent out a rough draft of a handbook to Committee. Kristin H. will email hot topics for handbook to Committee to review prior to next meeting. 6.Popcorn Sales: Bruce P. reported selling $287 worth of popcorn in front of Blockbuster. SCOUTS, SELL THAT POPCORN! 7.Summer Camps: a.Brian J. reported Royaneh is set for July 1-7, 2008; and Emerald Bay is set for July 15-21, 2008. b.Robin F. reported Double H Ranch is set for July 24-31, 2008. 9 Scouts/parents signed up so far. First large installment is due at end of September. Contact Robin F. for more specifics. REMINDER: SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE TO ANY SCOUT WHO FINDS ANY EVENT, WHETHER IT BE A CAMPING TRIP, BACKPACKING, SUMMER CAMP, ETC., FINANCIALLY DIFFICULT. PLEASE CONTACT SCOUTMASTER, DAVE H., OR TREASURER/ COMMITTEE CHAIR, BOB F. 8.Camping Equipment: Time to go through and inventory Patrol Boxes again. This will occur at an upcoming Troop Meeting. Robin F. will order a new water filtration system. Once system has been tested and determined adequate, the Troop will purchase a sufficient amount of water filtration systems as well as other needed equipment pending inventory of Patrol Boxes.
